Powerful Weekend Nor’easter Targets New York City Area
Get ready for another blast of winter. The latest forecast models show a strengthening nor’easter tracking closer to the coast — a shift that significantly increases snowfall totals across the tri-state region.
Forecasters now predict up to 12 inches of snow in the five boroughs, as well as parts of central New Jersey and Nassau County on Long Island. Areas farther north and west — including the Hudson Valley, North Jersey, and Connecticut — are expected to see 5 to 8 inches.

In addition to heavy snowfall, wind gusts between 30–50 mph are expected, especially along coastal communities and eastern Long Island. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, making Sunday night travel particularly dangerous.
Some areas along eastern Long Island and the Jersey Shore could even exceed the one-foot snowfall mark before the storm pulls away.

The system originated from an area of low pressure over California and is crossing the country before moving offshore near North Carolina. Once over the Atlantic, it is expected to intensify — a classic setup for a powerful nor’easter impacting the Northeast corridor.
